FIRST DOCTOR #Doctorwho Remembering William Hartnell
William Hartnell
(8th January 1908 – 23rd April 1975)
He became best known for his role as the First Doctor in Doctor Who, which he played from 1963 to 1966.
The First Doctor's original companions were his granddaughter Susan (Carole Ann Ford) and her schoolteachers Ian Chesterton (William Russell) and Barbara Wright (Jacqueline Hill)
It was as this incarnation that the Doctor first met the Daleks and the Cybermen, races that would become his most implacable foes.
Hartnell reprised the role once, in the tenth anniversary story The Three Doctors (1973), although due to his failing health the story was written so he would not have to appear very extensively.
First regular appearance An Unearthly Child (1963)
Last regular appearance The Tenth Planet (1966)
Hartnell's health had worsened during the early 1970s, and in December 1974 he was admitted to hospital permanently. In early 1975 he suffered a series of strokes brought on by cerebrovascular disease, and he died in his sleep of heart failure on 23 April 1975, at the age of 67.
Recently, we have seen the end of season 12 , since Jodi Whittaker has taken upon the role as portrayal the Doctor, there has been a division in the Whovian community with mixed feelings towards having a female in the role as well as much of the stories being criticized.
Whatever peoples thoughts are, it is their choice.
